The Great Pumpkin Pitch of 2025 with GoZERO

Pumpkin composting season is just around the corner, and by now you may know that those gorgeous gourds tend to show up at food scrap compost drop-off stations, invited or not, from the last week of October through the second week of December.

Rookies

For communities that haven’t yet established drop-off stations, now is the perfect time to allocate some limited time and energy to planning and promoting an exploratory pumpkin pitch. You will be amazed at the positive response you can get from inviting community members to compost their pumpkins. GoZERO can place a 20-cubic-yard box or just a few 64-gallon rollout carts to help you end the year on a positive note. Get in touch today to learn more about planning and promoting a first-time pumpkin pitch.

Veterans

For established drop-off stations, we recommend reviewing historical pumpkin season usage data and placing a few additional carts at each station, or adding roll-off boxes at other sites or the busiest stations. Contact us to schedule more pumpkin containers. As in previous years, if pumpkins need to be lifted from around the compost containers, we'll charge the regular rate per additional cart of pumpkins plus an extra $20 handling fee. This fee covers the time and effort needed to gather them. Let us know if we can help calculate what’s right for you.

Boxes

We’re excited to announce we’ve been able to reduce pumpkin roll-off box rates this year. However, the number of roll-off boxes available for 2025 pumpkin programs remains limited. This year, we can place a 20-cubic-yard box in the counties listed below for pumpkin composting from the last week of October through the second week of December, at the listed rates. If this initial box fills up and an additional box is needed in November, an empty box can be swapped for the full one for less than the cost of initial placement and collection.

To make budgeting easier, these are all-in rates that include transportation, box rental, & tonnage tip fees. Promotion costs, contamination, damage, or other unintended uses are not included, but based on previous years, these programs tend to be low-key, high-impact, and a great way to end the year positively, and fun to do. Contact us today to learn more about box availability and promoting pumpkin programs!

Thanks for considering composting! And thanks for letting GoZERO help get food scraps out of landfills and into the land!
